Falcons' Bryan Edwards: Avoids serious injury
Coach Arthur Smith said Monday that Edwards (shoulder) is considered "day-to-day," Scott Bair of the Falcons' official site reports.
Smith said Edwards' injury is "nothing that's considered long term." The 2020 third-round pick suffered a shoulder issue after falling awkwardly during Saturday's practice. Other wideouts on Atlanta's depth chart, including Olamide Zaccheaus and Auden Tate, will stand to benefit from increased opportunities as long as Edwards remains sidelined.

Falcons' Bryan Edwards: Not practicing Monday
Edwards (arm) is not participating in the start of Monday's practice, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
Edwards fell on his right arm during Saturday's session and suffered an injury. GM Terry Fontenot said the team has no updates on his health or recovery timeline. Edwards has an opportunity to secure the No. 2 wide receiver role behind Drake London this season, but his chances of earning such a substantial gig could dip significantly if he's forced to miss more than a small portion of training camp.

Falcons' Drake London: Dominating start to training camp
London (ankle) made several highlight-worthy plays during Atlanta's training camp practice Saturday, Deen Worley of the Falcons' official site reports.
London broke his foot in October last year, which sidelined him for the remainder of his final campaign at USC. However, the No. 8 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft hasn't appeared limited at all during his offseason work with the Falcons. At 6-foot-4, London has the frame to be an elite red-zone threat, but his route running makes him a potential No. 1 WR as a rookie. While the 22-year-old holds all the talent in the world, his fantasy production will be directly correlated to how well Marcus Mariota is able to do in his first year back as a starting quarterback.

Falcons' John FitzPatrick: Active at camp
FitzPatrick (undisclosed) took part in training camp Friday, Matt Urben of Falcons Wire reports.
FitzPatrick was limited during minicamp, but he appears to be fully active for training camp. Selected in the sixth round out of Georgia in the 2021 Draft, Fitzpatrick is an Atlanta native whose blocking skills caught the Falcons' eye last year.

Falcons' Bryan Edwards: Leaves practice early with injury
Edwards left Saturday's practice early to undergo additional testing after evidently injuring his right arm, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
Head coach Arthur Smith downplayed the injury following practice, but the fact Edwards is expected to undergo additional testing is at least worth monitoring. The former Raiders wide receiver has been working with the starting unit opposite Drake London as the team's No. 2 wideout to begin training camp.

Falcons' Marcus Mariota: Starting QB in training camp
Mariota has worked exclusively with the starters in training camp, Steve Wyche of NFL Network reports.
It's possible rookie third-round pick Desmond Ridder will get a chance to play at some point in 2022 if Mariota struggles or gets hurt, but the latter is the team's clear-cut starter heading into the season. Mariota has logged 61 career NFL starts since being selected second overall in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Titans, and Atlanta appears content to lean on his experience early on rather than rush Ridder's development.

Falcons' Cordarrelle Patterson: Wants to return kicks still
Patterson said he plans to return kickoffs this year, hoping to set an NFL record of nine career kick return touchdowns, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.comreports.
The 31-year-old former wideout is coming off his best NFL season on the offensive side of the ball, where he managed 1,166 total yards and 11 TDs in a struggling Atlanta offense. He's currently tied for the all-time lead with eight TDs on kickoffs, and Patterson said he'd give up the task once he set the record. For fantasy purposes, it's a minor concern, with the bigger issues being Patterson's workload, health and performance. He shared work with Mike Davis last season even when Davis continued to struggle, and the Falcons now have Damien Williams and fifth-round rookie Tyler Allgeier joining Qadree Ollison as competition for backfield snaps. Patterson is still the best athlete of the bunch at age 31, but his role is hardly airtight after he averaged only 31. 8 total yards over the final five games of last season.
