Cardinals' Kyler Murray: Tests positive for COVID
Murray has tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss at least five days of practice, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Murray likely will return to practice next week ahead of the Cardinals' preseason opener in Cincinnati on Aug. 12. He recently signed a five-year contract extension for approximately $230.5 million.

Cardinals' Marquise Brown: May practice next week
Coach Kliff Kingsbury is hopeful Brown (hamstring) returns to practice "next week at some point," Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports. "I don't know when, but that's our hope," Kingsbury added Friday.
The Cardinals placed Brown on the active/non-football injury list Tuesday due to a hamstring issue, giving him a chance to practice at any point during training camp once he's healthy. With more than a month before the regular season, he'll have plenty of time to reach 100 percent, but getting back on the field will be the first step in that process. Once he's available, Brown is poised to serve as the team's top wide receiver Week 1, when DeAndre Hopkins' six-game suspension kicks in.

Cardinals' James Wiggins: Back from injury
Wiggins appears fully recovered from a knee injury heading into his second training camp with Arizona, Aaron Decker of SI.com reports.
Wiggins played three games in 2021 after being called up from the Cardinals' practice squad in October, appearing solely on special teams during this stint. The safety was then placed on injured reserve with a knee injury in December and was never activated before the end of his rookie season. Wiggins should vie with Charles Washington and Deionte Thompson for a backup safety role during training camp.

Cardinals' Cameron Thomas: Good to go
Thomas (hamstring) was seen looking close to full speed at practice Thursday, Alex Weiner reports.
Thomas was unable to play in his Senior Bowl matchup due to a hamstring injury. However, it seems the rookie is almost back to full health, as his speed getting around the edge Thursday was of note to coaches. Expect the San Diego State product to see a depth role this season behind J.J. Watt.

Cardinals' Antwaun Woods: Inks deal with Arizona
Woods signed a one-year contract with the Cardinals on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Woods collected 15 tackles over seven games for Indianapolis in 2021 before suffering a season-ending calf injury in December. The veteran nose tackle played a total of 69 defensive snaps for the Colts last year, and he should compete with Leki Fotu for a role as a rotational nose tackle heading into the 2022 campaign.

Cardinals' Justin Murray: Back in action
Murray (back) will be in competition for the right guard position, Aaron Decker reports.
After missing a majority of the 2021-22 season with a back injury, Murray is being discussed as competition for a backup right guard role behind Will Hernandez and Josh Jones. Now that he's healthy, Murray will likely end up seeing a depth role on the Cardinals' offensive line this upcoming season.

Cardinals' Zach Allen: Ready to return
Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury said Wednesday that Allen is ready to handle a full workload again after recovering from ankle surgery undergone in January, Jose M. Romero of the Arizona Republic reports.
Kingsbury added that Allen is running well, but that the defensive end may be utilized in different ways this preseason to ensure he remains healthy. The 24-year-old collected 48 tackles and four sacks over 15 games last year, and he figures to reprise a significant role on Arizona's defensive line this coming season.

Cardinals' Maxx Williams: May practice before camp concludes
Williams (knee) may get back on the field before the end of training camp, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. "I'd say he's ahead of schedule," coach Kliff Kingsbury said Tuesday regarding Williams' recovery. "Not saying he'll be ready to go or how that looks, but from where it started to where it is now I couldn't be more impressed."
Williams continues his recovery from the torn ACL that he sustained Week 5 last season. Because he opened camp on the active/PUP list, he has the ability to practice or even play in the preseason. Kingsbury's comments imply that the former is more likely to happen than the latter, but if Williams remains on the PUP list beyond cut-down day on Aug. 30, he'll move to the reserve version of the list and be required to miss at least the first four games of the coming campaign. Once Williams is available to Arizona's offense, he'll have to vie with Zach Ertz and likely rookie second-round pick Trey McBride for reps at tight end.

Cardinals' Marquise Brown: Opening camp on NFI list
Brown has been placed on the Cardinals' non-football injury list due to a hamstring issue, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
The wideout is eligible to come off the list whenever he is ready to practice, but Brown is now slated to miss some time with Arizona's training camp about to open. Once he's able to return to the field, Brown will look to cement his key role in an offense that will open the coming season minus DeAndre Hopkins, who has been suspended for six games out of the gate for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances. While Hopkins is out, Brown will be in line to serve as Kyler Murray's top downfield option, with A.J. Green, Rondale Moore and Antoine Wesley also in the mix for targets.
