  • Rams' Van Jefferson: Week 1 status TBD

When asked if he expects Jefferson (knee) to be available for Week 1 action, coach Sean McVay acknowledged Monday "that's up in the air right now," Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports.

On Monday, it was revealed that Jefferson has "a little knee tweak" and will undergo "minor surgery" on Tuesday to address the issue. Though McVay noted that Jefferson's initial timetable for a return is a few weeks, the Rams expect to have a better feel for exactly when the wideout might return after they "see how the surgery goes." As long as Jefferson is sidelined, Ben Skowronek and Tutu Atwell, among others, figure to see added opportunities to push for early-season reps behind top WR options Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson. Moreover, Odell Beckham remains on Los Angeles' radar, but it's unclear when the free agent will be fully recovered from the torn ACL that he suffered in Super Bowl LVI.

  • Rams' Matthew Stafford: Sits out team drills

Stafford (elbow) didn't work in team drills Monday, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports.

Coach Sean McVay noted that the approach was taken because the QB is "still feeling a little bit of pain." Despite that comment, McVay indicated that he's not too concerned, suggesting that Stafford could push through the pain, but "that's not the goal with somebody like him." With that in mind, consider Stafford day-to-day until he's next able to participate fully in team drills.

  • Rams' Van Jefferson: Slated to undergo knee procedure

Coach Sean McVay relayed Monday that Jefferson is slated to undergo minor knee surgery and is expected to be out for a few weeks, Eric D. Williams of SI.com reports.

While that's not an optimal development for the Rams' wideout corps, it does at this stage sound like Jefferson has a shot to be recovered before Week 1. When healthy, the 2020 second-rounder is projected to serve as the team's No. 3 WR option behind Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson. In Jefferson's absence, the likes of Ben Skowronek, Jacob Harris, Brandon Powell and Tutu Atwell should have added opportunities to make cases for early-season opportunities.

  • Rams' Jalen Ramsey: Mixed news on shoulder

Ramsey" data-type="SPORTS_OBJECT_PLAYER" data-league-abbreviation="NFL" data-team-abbreviation="LAR">Ramsey's surgically repaired shoulder is "nowhere near 100 percent" but feels significantly better than it did last season, Cameron DaSilva of USA Today Rams Wire reports.

Ramsey underwent shoulder surgery in June and was able to avoid being placed on the active/PUP list to begin training camp, though the Rams are still bringing him along slowly. The veteran cornerback appears to still be recovering from the surgery, but it has already helped the condition of his shoulder after Ramsey played through injuries during Los Angeles' Super Bowl run.

  • Rams' Tyler Higbee: Back from MCL issue

Higbee, who missed the Rams' Super Bowl LVI win over the Bengals due to an MCL injury, has been participating in training camp, Stu Jackson of the team's official site reports.

Now that he's moved past his knee issue, Higbee -- who recorded 61 catches (on 85 targets) for 560 yards and five TDs in 15 regular-season games in 2021 -- is set to reprise his role as the Rams' clear-cut No. 1 pass-catching tight end. As long as he can stay healthy, Higbee should see steady enough targets from QB Matthew Stafford in a Rams' passing attack that also includes top wideouts Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson to maintain a degree of fantasy relevance in most scoring formats.

  • Rams' Matthew Stafford: Moves past elbow issue

Stafford, who didn't throw during spring workouts as he dealt with a right elbow issue, has resumed throwing in training camp, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports.

In the process, the veteran QB has been able to begin building his on-field rapport with Allen Robinson, who was signed this offseason to bolster a wide receiver corps that also includes returnees Cooper Kupp and Van Jefferson (knee), but no longer currently rosters Robert Woods (traded to the Titans) and Odell Beckham (still unsigned). Per Barshop, as training camp has progressed, the chemistry between Stafford and Robinson appears to be developing, with the report noting that the two connected on a nice play during team drills Saturday, which resulted in the signal-caller finding Robinson between two defenders in the back of the end zone.

  • Rams' Van Jefferson: Set to see specialist Monday

Jefferson will see a specialist Monday for a lingering knee issue and potentially could miss multiple weeks of training camp, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Jefferson underwent a minor knee procedure during the offseason but was expected to be fully healthy by the start of training camp. Per Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic, Rams head coach Sean McVay declined to say whether the wideout's current situation was related to the knee procedure, but it's concerning either way. Second-year wideouts Ben Skowronek and Tutu Atwell figure to garner increased opportunities in three-wide sets during training camp with Jefferson expected to be sidelined for at least a few weeks.

  • Rams' Xavier Jones: Lands back on IR

Jones (Achilles) reverted to the Rams' injured reserve list Saturday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.

Jones was waived with an injury designation by the Rams on Friday after missing the entirety of the 2021 campaign due to a torn Achilles suffered late in the preseason. The undrafted free agent out of SMU's career has gotten off to a rather rough start after he exclusively played on special teams over 13 games in 2020. Barring any injury settlement with the team, Jones figures to once again miss this coming regular season while on Los Angeles' injured reserve list.

  • Rams' Trey Ragas: Joins Rams

Ragas has been picked up by the Rams, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.

Ragas was waived by the Raiders in May after signing a reserve/future contract with them this past January. He figures to have an uphill battle in terms of earning a roster spot in Los Angeles, but he will now have an opportunity to make an impression at camp.

  • Rams' Allen Robinson: Picking up offense quickly

Robinson has picked up the Rams' playbook quickly, Stu Jackson of the team's official site reports.

Robinson has earned compliments from teammates Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp, as well as coach Sean McVay. Coming off a down year with the Bears, Robinson appears primed to bounce back with Stafford throwing him the ball, and the offseason signing is doing his part by getting on the same page as his quarterback as quickly as possible.

  • Rams' Jacob Harris: Reverting back to wide receiver

Harris (knee) is practicing with the Rams' other wide receivers and the team currently has him listed at that position instead of tight end, per Jourdan Rodrigue of The Atlantic.

Harris was a wide receiver in college at UCF, where he put up a 30-539-8 line in his senior season. However, he was used as a tight end in limited action during a dismal rookie campaign with the Rams, where he went without a single target before missing the latter half of the season with a torn ACL and MCL. Converting back to his original position may get Harris back in his comfort zone, but his return further crowds an already stacked wideout room that may leave him struggling for snaps once again.

  • Rams' Kyren Williams: On track for preseason

Williams (foot) has a chance to make an appearance late in the preseason, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

The rookie back is recovering from a broken foot he suffered during OTAs, and while he can't participate in drills at the moment because he's on the active/PUP list, he has been keeping tabs on his position group and getting extra feedback from Cam Akers, who returned from a torn Achilles of his own last season. Akers noted, "He'll be back on the field in a couple weeks, I think," which is another positive affirmation that Williams should return to the field in time for preseason action.
